Bermuda Institute is seeking the following personnel for the 2021-2022 school year:

HIGH SCHOOL MATH TEACHER

Applicant Requirements:

  • Applicants must love children and be able to foster faith development in students at Bermuda Institute.

  • Must be a practicing member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in good standing and model Christianity by upholding the faith and values of the Church.

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a minor in Education together with a teaching certificate;

  • Must have at least three (3) years of teaching Mathematics at the high school grades;

  • Must be proficient in the teaching of Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus/Statistics, Calculus/AP classes for the high school grades, as well as helping our students achieve mastery as they prepare for the ACT and SAT exams and Dual Enrolment;

  • Must be willing to be a class sponsor, work with the robotics team, implement STREAMS practices, offer tutoring to students as needed, and participate in extracurricular activities.

  • Must be skilled at using appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and equipment that reflects understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.

  • Must possess excellent organisational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and have a keen eye for details.

  • Must be experienced in utilizing cutting edge technologies in a classroom setting.

  • Must be willing to perform morning, homeroom, lunch, afterschool, and extracurricular duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.

  • Experience working in a multi-grade setting is preferred.


HIGH SCHOOL LEARNING SUPPORT TEACHER Applicant Requirements:

  • Applicants must love children and be able to foster faith development in students at Bermuda Institute.

  • Must be a practicing member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in good standing and model Christianity by upholding the faith and values of the Church.

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in Special Education with a concentration in Inclusion, Collaborative Consultation or a relevant concentration.

  • Must have at least five (5) years’ experience in the high school grades teaching students with disabilities i.e. learning, emotional, social, behavioural, etc.

  • Must be proficient in developing and implementing annual IEP’s for students which include research based specialised instruction.

  • Must be proficient in employing various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning together with a proven ability in using assistive technology.

  • Must possess excellent organisational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and have a keen eye for details.

  • Must promote confidence, resilience, and determination in students to focus on improving their personal bests and their own personal skills.

  • Must be experienced in utilizing cutting edge technologies in a classroom setting.

  • Must be willing to perform morning, homeroom, lunch, afterschool, and extracurricular duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.

  • Experience working in a multi-grade setting is preferred.


HIGH SCHOOL SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER Applicant Requirements:

  • Applicants must love children and be able to foster faith development in students at Bermuda Institute.

  • Must be a practicing member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in good standing and model Christianity by upholding the faith and values of the Church.

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies with a minor in Education together with a teaching certificate.

  • Must have at least three (3) years of teaching Social Studies at the high school grades.

  • Must be proficient in the teaching of U.S. History, Geography, World History for the high school grades, as well as helping our students achieve mastery as they prepare for the ACT and SAT exams, and Dual Enrolment.

  • Must be willing to be a class sponsor, work with the robotics team, implement STREAMS practices, and offer tutoring to students as needed.

  • Must be skilled at using appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and equipment that reflects understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.

  • Must promote confidence, resilience, and determination in students to focus on improving their personal bests and their own personal skills.

  • Must possess excellent organisational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and have a keen eye for details.

  • Actively participate in the professional learning community, and will go the extra mile to meet the needs of all Bermuda Institute students.

  • Must be experienced in utilizing cutting edge technologies in a classroom setting.

  • Must be willing to perform morning, homeroom, lunch, afterschool, and extracurricular duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.

  • Experience working in a multi-grade setting is preferred.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION (PE) & HEALTH TEACHER (Girls) Applicant Requirements:

  • Applicants must love children and be able to foster faith development in students at Bermuda Institute.

  • Must be a practicing member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in good standing and model Christianity by upholding the faith and values of the Church.

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education together with a teaching certificate.

  • Must have at least three (3) years of teaching PE across all year levels (K-12) and be willing to present subject matter according to the standards established by the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists.

  • Must posses the ability to plan and deliver exciting PE lessons geared toward motivating students to love PE.

  • Must promote confidence, resilience, and determination in students to focus on improving their personal bests and their own personal skills.

  • Must possess excellent organisational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and have a keen eye for details.

  • Must be willing to plan and organize sporting events including but not limited to intramurals and sports’ days. 

  • Must be willing to coordinate with the Bermuda Schools Sports Federation (BSSF) to have students participate in annual events.

  • Must be willing to perform morning, homeroom, lunch, afterschool, and extracurricular duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.

  • Experience working in a multi-grade setting is preferred.

All Teacher applicants must provide the following items:

  • An up-to-date résumé

  • Certified copies of relevant qualifications

  • Copy of a daily lesson plan

  • Copy of a current denominational certification and the Bermuda Educators’ Council Licence

  • Three references with email addresses, including one from your current Supervisor and current Pastor

The successful candidates will be expected to provide a recent Police background check and complete SCARS training in order to demonstrate that they may work in an organisation involving children. Salary and benefits are based on the denominational wage scale and policy determinations operating in Bermuda.
